Ants. Yeah.. Ants

My children have discovered a love for catching ants. It’s wonderful in that there’s pretty much an endless supply, it keeps them occupied and happy for hours, and requires nothing except a cup for housing. But of course, even in this my kids have found much to fight, whine, and cry about. Like who gets which ant, who’s ant belongs to who once there caught, and who’s turn it is to catch the next one (I think the ants are starting to pick up on the game and what that means for their immediate future because the findings are getting further apart).

I lost count of how many times I had to say:
“NO Landon don’t kill your sister’s ant!!”
“NO Landon you can’t scratch her because she’s trying to steal your ant!!!!”
“Mylah Jane quit crying over the ant you lost. Go find another”
“May stop taking all of the ants”…
Over and over I had to tell them stop fighting, stop crying, stop hurting, just play. And for the most part they did. Who knew someday I would be thanking the Lord for ants and the (mostly) joy and entertainment they bring my little people?!
